Emily Irene VanCamp was originally looking to become a dancer. However, after going to her sister Katie's set in the Ladies Room, she became more interested in acting. As she took acting classes as well, she also got part-time roles in Canadian television series. She was a part of, among other shows, in the series Are You Scared of Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough when he was cast in the WB horror-mystery show Glory Days as Sam Dolan. While the show was praised by reviews, its low ratings led to it being ended after nine short episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the major characters. This role led to her being named an Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
